Privacy Policy for TapKlip Downloads
TapKlip does not store downloaded files. This page explains how we handle the links you submit, the information used to process downloads, samples from failed downloads, and data used for analytics and advertising.
Privacy Policy at a glance
TapKlip is free, with no sign-up and no pop-ups. Downloaded files come directly from the platform they were posted on, and TapKlip does not store them.
- IP addresses are saved as coded values, not as the original addresses.
- Pasted links are also saved as coded values, apart from limited samples used to investigate failed downloads.
- Request data is deleted after 30 days.
- Google Analytics loads only after your first interaction with the page.
- TapKlip does not use ads that redirect you to another page.
How TapKlip handles request data
When you submit a link, TapKlip records a limited amount of information to process your download, manage usage, and investigate problems. The details below explain what is saved and how it is used.
IP addresses
TapKlip replaces your IP address with a coded value before saving it. The code is created with a key that changes daily and is deleted after two days. TapKlip uses this code to apply usage limits to links submitted from the same network.
Pasted links
In routine request records, TapKlip saves a coded version of each pasted link rather than the link itself. Samples from failed downloads are handled separately, as explained below.
Error samples
For troubleshooting, TapKlip keeps a limited collection of sample links from failed downloads. Extra tracking details are removed from these links before they are saved. These samples help identify what went wrong.
Android Share menu links
When you send a link through the Android Share menu, TapKlip places it after the # in the page address. Your browser leaves that part out when it first asks TapKlip to open the page.
How downloaded files are handled
Files are delivered from the platform they were posted on rather than kept by TapKlip. Only public content is supported. Content that is private, has been deleted, or requires a login cannot be downloaded.
How long request data is kept
| Data | How long it is kept |
|---|---|
| Request data, including coded IP addresses and links | Deleted after 30 days |
| Daily key used to code IP addresses | Deleted after two days |
| Samples from failed downloads, with tracking details removed | Kept in a limited collection |
The limit on error samples controls how many are kept. It does not set a fixed deletion date for each sample.
Analytics and advertising
TapKlip uses Google Analytics to understand which pages people visit. It loads only after you first interact with the page, such as by tapping or scrolling.
Ads load only after you interact with the page or a download result appears. Ads shown on TapKlip can use cookies from the ad provider.
