Video opens in a new tab instead of saving
If a video opens in a new tab from TapKlip, your browser is playing the file instead of saving it. Return to the results and select the main Download button, or use your browser’s save option if available.
Video opens in a new tab: what to do first
TapKlip’s Open in new tab link opens the video directly from its original platform. If a player appears, the browser has opened the file for viewing rather than saving. You can still save the video using the steps below.
Before trying again, check your browser’s download list. Playback alone does not tell you whether a copy has also been saved. If the file is already listed, open it from there to check your download.
Check why the video is playing
- You selected Open in new tab, which opens the file for viewing rather than starting a download.
- Your browser is using its video player to open the file instead of saving it to your device.
- You are using an older result. If its file link no longer opens, get a fresh result using the original post link.
TapKlip gets files directly from the original platform and does not store them. It supports public posts only. Private posts, deleted posts and content that requires a login are not available to download.
Save the video on Android or iPhone
- Return to the TapKlip results and select the main Download button beside the video you want to save.
- If that button no longer works, copy the original public post link, paste it into TapKlip and select Download from the new result.
- On Android, if the video still opens in Chrome, press and hold it. Choose Download video if the option appears. Saved files usually go to the Download folder.
- On iPhone, if Safari opens the file, open the Share menu and choose Save to Files if available. Downloads usually go to the Downloads folder in the Files app, depending on your browser settings.
- To add a saved iPhone video to Photos, open it in Files, tap Share and choose Save Video if available.

TapKlip is free, with no sign-up and no pop-ups. If you see an error instead of a playing video, visit download problems and fixes for help with that specific issue.
Use the original public post link
Use the link to the original post—not the address of the tab playing the video. TapKlip has one box for four platforms: TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest. It recognises the platform from your link, so there is no need to choose it yourself.
| Platform | Link to copy |
|---|---|
| TikTok | The public video or photo post link from the Share menu. |
| The public post or Reel link, including posts with several photos. | |
| The public video or Reel link. | |
| The public Pin link for the video or image. |
